New Devotional: Share Your Miracle

A New Perspective

Isn’t it amazing just how big our Universe is from one side to the other? Scientists have determined that it’s actually 15.5 billion light years from one end to the other. Realizing that light travels at an incredibly fast 186,000 miles per second, we can all agree that our universe is enormous!

Taking this kind of information and knowing that our God created it all gives us some perspective on just how big our God is. Knowing that our God holds this universe together and is in control at all times helps us realize just how great our God will always be.

The Bible tells us in Isaiah 55:8&9, “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts and my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so my ways are higher than your ways
and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.” Isaiah was helping us to change our perspectives and see everything from God’s point of view.

This is what happened in the Bennett family. They had been praying a very simple prayer that most parents do. For this young couple they simply asked God for a healthy baby to come into their family. They even decided to wait to find out what they were having until the delivery day.

From that simple prayer a few months later they were blessed to have a little boy. He was cute as could be. Five stubby fingers, five piggy toes, the Bennett nose, and a round head full of straight blond hair. In just a few short second he had captured the heart of his loving parents. But something was very different when they noticed his little slanted bluish gray eyes.

As the doctor approached the young couple holding their new baby, he informed them that their son was going to face some difficulties and challenges. Their young baby boy was diagnosed with Mongoloid Syndrome. Although this was what the doctor’s were saying, this young mother saw angelic love coming through those slanted eyes that day.

Many years have passed and the doctor was right. Christian, the Bennett’s son, has faced some difficulties. His biggest difficulty is that he never meets a stranger. With the love of God in his heart, he talks and loves on everyone he ever meets. You will find Christian smiling, talking, and showing compassion to everyone he comes into contact with. His biggest challenge is that he only get’s 24 hours in a day to it. He loves to show the love of Jesus to others by a simple hug and a kind word.

You see God’s ways are not our ways and His thoughts are not ours. God answered the Bennett’s prayer and their healthy baby boy is continuing to impact the World around him by changing people’s perspective… one hug at a time.
